Catalog Course Description: This course covers the history and philosophy of the human services; function and orientation of human service agencies and institutions; human services as careers; opportunities and qualifications at various entry levels of human services employment. Goals and Objectives of the Class: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to: 1. Identify human services and the way in which they meet human needs. 2. Demonstrate skills in problem solving, data collection and evaluation as they relate to need satisfaction and human service agencies. 3. Compare and contrast public and private human service agencies and demonstrate awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of both 4. Describe current target populations and how it is determined which groups will receive aid.
